Why yes, I do own a pair of "lucky" white, Hi-Top Chuck's (you know, Converse). I most definitely would not actually call them lucky seriously. I mean, I did get poison oak in those shoes when I went exploring through the woods with my friend. Still, I always like to wear them when I'm going to have a particularly hard day, despite the fact that they practically aren't shoes anymore. The sides are all torn up, they have purple stains from picking blackberries and really the rest of them are more of a grayish brown color than white.
Even still, I like to think that they remind me that I can get through anything, because I've had plenty of good and bad times in those shoes. Maybe it's silly to believe in luck but I still always tell people that they're my lucky shoes.
Now I really need to stop procrastinating! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Okay, done ranting
Weird Question thingy my sister gave me to do. I love her. She knows me so well.
Who sleeps in bed next to you?
Unfortunately I am a lonely single bastard who sleeps alone, aside from a stuffed bear I made at one of those off-brand build-a-bear places. He is awesome but does not keep me warm. : (
What did you last eat?
Um...onigiri (rice balls) and ice cream. It was tasty ice cream too, with some kind of waffle thing and chocolate.
What kind of books do you read?
Science Fiction, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Suspense, Mystery, Humor. I love Hitchhiker's Guide, Ursula LeGuin, Ray Bradbury, yeah kind of a lot of stuff actually.
If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be?
I would be back in Minnesota with the people I miss or at home with my family whom I haven't seen for seven months.
What's really creepy?
Clowns. And Richard Simmons. Put them together and you have one deadly combination.
Name one item within five feet of you.
My journal. Not the kind where you write "Today I fought with Bobby because he stole my favoritist crayons! I am very mad at him!" but where I write down things that inspire me, little bits of stories and fics, sketch a little of this and that. It's my most prized possession.
What's your current fandom / obsession / addiction?
Two words: Star Trek. Of course I've been obsessed for the past fifteen years and I don't see it stopping anytime soon, so maybe it should be considered my longstanding obsession/addiction. I love TOS, TNG (which I watched growing up), Voy (I love the Doctor!) and DS9 (hahaha the ferengi). Not a huge fan of Enterprise though. Hmmm.
What did you really want to do today that you didn't?
Write because my damn muse which seems to like to disappear for weeks on end FINALLY returned today. But alas, I had class and found it hard to concentrate with the teacher nagging us with his lecture.
What are you most excited for?
The Christmas season. Not the whole commercial "Lets buy up as much shit as possible" thing, but the part where you make time to spend with your family and just exist. Sounds cheesy, but like I said, I haven't really seen my family for SEVEN MONTHS.
What websites do you always visit when you go on line?
Livejournal, facebook, yahoo and my school e-mail.
What was the last thing you bought?
*blushes* Onigiri and ice cream. I am so healthy.
If you could have any pet, what would it be?
A huge Great Dane to walk proudly around town and to have hog the bed so I won't feel so damn lonely at night. They are awesome dogs. My best friend had one and I loved her (the dog and my best friend).
Your past life: Tell me about it.
You know, I must have been really old fashioned or something because most of the time I feel like I was born in the wrong decade. And in the wrong gender. I was probably a jazz singer. Yeah. It would make sense.
What do you want right this minute, off the top of your head?
The new Star Trek movie on DVD, but I'm broke and out of the country, so I cannot have it.
Where is the place you like to return to in order to calm down / relax / etc.?
I don't really have my own place, so I usually retreat to my bed with a notebook and just brood/think for a very long time.
How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll centre of a Tootsie Pop?
You know, I figured that out for science class once back in middle school, but I couldn't tell you. I can't remember. A lot!
What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
I'd like to tell someone I love them and that I have for a very long time now. Just to get it off my chest. It's weighing heavily on my mind/heart/soul right now.
Are there any bits of childhood that you miss?
I miss my best friend. I miss having the most complicated part of my day being whether I should paint a dragon or a dinosaur. I miss plucking yellow dandylions from the grass and twining them together in friendship bracelets meant to last forever. I miss a lot of things and a lot of the time, I'm still a kid at heart.
Say something to the person who tagged you.
I miss you so much right now. Only four more weeks and then we can share hot chocolate and roll in the snow! Te quiero!
